Environmental Policy
We are aware and concerned of the welfare of the environment around us. While we do not operate in a business area which directly impacts the environment, there are environmental issues related to the existence and operation of the corporation that we can address. We shall seek to recycle all recyclable materials in our offices, such as paper, cardboard, metals and organic waste. When faced with an option to choose between environmentally friendly and less friendly products, we shall prefer environmentally friendly products.
RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT In each of our decisions, we must take into account the direct and indirect impact of our activity on our natural and human environment. Active in energy, water, and waste services, our businesses operate at the intersection of today’s two key environmental challenges: resource conservation and limiting environmental impacts. In other words, optimizing what is extracted from the earth and minimizing pollution, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We don’t use the word “environment” to mean just the “natural environment.” Environment also includes the “human environment,” the communities and, more broadly, the countries where we operate, where the Group’s men and women devote a large part of their time and the best of their talents. What would respect for the environment mean if it were not based on respect for humanity as well?Respecting the environment means offering communities, including those most in need, the water, energy, and sanitation services that are essential to life. It means looking out for the safety of all who are affected by our activities – neighbors, users, and employees, and others – without compromising the Group’s profitable development. Only thus will we, each at our particular level, conduct ourselves as business leaders responsible for the sustainable development of our shared environment: the earth and all its inhabitants.
